Government
The city of Whitheron is ruled by its Baron or Baroness. The post is usually inherited by the first born of the previous Baron of House Cantrill. The current Baroness is Lady Juliana Cantrill, Baroness of Whitheron.
The Baroness appoints all of the major positions in the city save those of the clergy.
The Lord Exchequer presides over the city’s bureaucracy. This bureaucracy is devoted primarily to the maintenance of the city treasury and the collection of taxes.
The Lord High Magistrate presides over the city’s court system. He appoints lesser magistrates for each of the city’s districts.
The Lord of the Watch presides over the city’s militia and local enforcement of the Baron’s law.
The Lord of the River presides over the city’s water ways and collects duties and tariffs in the Baroness’ name.
The Lord Herald heads the defense of the inner keep and is the keeper of all the city’s records.
