University of Kalimsport
The University of Kalimsport is located near the center of the city on Sage’s Hill. It is comprised of several Colleges, unified under one banner. It is a closed campus—members of the public must have a sponsor to utilize its services or make special arrangements with its sages. It is renowned throughout the continent as the premier institution of higher learning.
History
The University began as Voss College in 119 AT. The College was founded by Talya Voss, daughter of Kalim Voss, the original founder of the city of Kalimsport. Like her father, she was a well-traveled individual and wanted a place to collect the various bits of knowledge she acquired on her travels. By the time of her death in 178 AT, the college had grown to include several new schools and degrees.
The various schools of Voss College came under the new name of the University of Kalimsport in the spring of 276 AT per a charter granted by the Overlord at that time. The University has continued to grew since that time into the world’s premier institution of higher learning. Scholars from throughout the known world flock to the city to take advantage of its vast libraries and renowned lecturers.
Organization
The University of Kalimsport is a federation of colleges gathered on one campus. There are 12 different colleges, each with different courses and programs available to students.
The head of the University is the Chancellor. The Chancellor is appointed by the Overlord of the City of Kalimsport and serves for life.
Five Vice Chancellors have responsibilities of governing specific areas of concern: Education, Research, Planning and Resources, Development and External Affairs, and Personnel.
The University Council is an executive policy-making body comprised of the Chancellor, the Academic Department Chairs, the College Deans, and three observers from the Student Union.
The 9-member Board of Fellows manage the University’s finances and are appointed by the University Council. Each Fellow serves a renewable 5-year term.
Syllabi and course programs are governed by Academic Department Chairs. Departments provide facilities for teaching and research, determine the syllabi and guidelines for the teaching of students, perform research, and deliver lectures and seminars. The members of an Academic Department are spread throughout the colleges.
Each College is governed by a Dean. They administrate the various policies of the University for their College, maintain the College budget, provide residential and dining facilities, as well as, social, cultural, and recreational activities for their members, as well as admitting undergraduates and maintaining tuition.
Esteemed Sages/Professors are those sages that have attained some level of renown in their respective field.
Professors are those sages that have attained tenure with the University and assist with graduate-level studies.
Lecturers are run of the mill instructors/researchers at the University.

Mandreth Kerendal : Mandreth Kerendal is an esteemed sage with the Department of Linguistics. He is the world’s foremost authority on the Aedonii language.
Belurien Springstorm : Belurien is an elven sage residing at the University of Kalimsport and acts as the University’s liaison to the Saelfsidehdai.
