Sadum (SAW-doom) is the Lord of Judgment, the arbiter of Death, the Gatekeeper of the Underworld.

Sadum is one of the Later Gods of the Midron pantheon, birthed of the elements rather than the First Gods. His church is devoted to the care of the dead and the preparation of souls for their final judgment.

Relationships

Sadum is a feared and respected being among the gods and humanity. He is the gatekeeper of Nekrandium, the land of the unworthy dead, and the final arbiter of Fate at the time of Judgment for the gods themselves. Sadum, himself, stands aloof from the petty plots and scheming of his brethren and of humanity.

Appearances and Emissaries

Sadum appears as a pale-skinned man, bald, with deep black pools for eyes. He wears a black cloak and carries a great scythe (“Soulcatcher”) with which he severs the spirit’s hold on the material plane at their time of judgment.

Worship of Sadum

Sadum expects his followers to maintain the highest standards of impartiality. Good and Evil each have their place and their roles to play in the maintenance of the balance of creation. Just as Sadum places souls in their place, humankind can place themselves, impartially, where they belong or are needed.

Worshipers and Clergy

Morticians, judges, and necromancers often find themselves drawn to the service of Sadum.

Priests of Sadum often attend to Midron funerary rites and maintain cemeteries and necropolises. They are shrouded in black and shave their heads in imitation of their god.

Temples and Shrines

Temples of Sadum are found near cemeteries and necropolises. They are austere edifices dedicated to judgment and death.

Obediences

Certain followers of Sadum perform daily rituals in order to receive special boons from the Lord of Judgement. Shave your head, all the while contemplating your life and how it fall in the balance against the judgement of Sadum.
