Campaign of the Month: September 2018
Shadows of the Rift
Nimar
Nimar (NEE-mar) is the Lady of the Waves, the everlasting ocean, the Mistress of the Storm.
Nimar is one of the Later Gods of the Midron pantheon, birthed of the elements rather than the First Gods. Her church is devoted to placating her temper and making the way safe for sea travel, their primary duty being sacrifice to the goddess.
Relationships
Nimar is a temperamental deity, throwing her power behind any of the gods that suit her whim at that particular moment. She has drawn the enmity of all of the gods at one point or another due to her stormy nature.
She is indifferent to the plight of humanity, so long as she is placated. Otherwise, they shall feel the full weight of her displeasure.
Appearances and Emissaries
Nimar appears as an imposing woman with sea-green hair and sharp features. Her eyes change according to her mood—the green-blue of seawater when calm, the stormy grey of thunderclouds when angered. She has also been known to take on the form of a great Kraken.
Worship of Nimar
The primary goal of the worship of Nimar to not draw her ire. If the proper prayer and sacrifices are made, then the goddess will be placated. Nimar is all of the dangers—and bounties—of the sea, and her moods are reflected in its raw power and beauty.
At least once per month, a sacrifice must be made to the goddess. This must take the form of something of value being cast into the sea (artisan work, livestock, etc.).
Worshipers and Clergy
Sailors, fishermen, and coast dwellers are drawn to worship Nimar for their livelihood. Other travelers also seek to placate the goddess to ensure a safe journey.
Clergy that have devoted themselves to Nimar wear grey robes trimmed in white. They have the duty to stave off the anger of the goddess for local sailors, ships, and the like.
Temples and Shrines
Temples to Nimar are always found within sight of the sea. They are often open to the elements, though with elaborate mosaics and carvings dedicated to the goddess.
Obediences
Certain devoted followers of Nimar perform daily rituals to curry her favor. Cast yourself into the sea (or another body of water) and allow yourself to be taken by the waves for a time. Contemplate the chaotic nature of the waters. Trust in the goddess to see you to safety. Gain a +4 sacred or profane (your choice) bonus to Heal, Swim, Use Magic Device, and Intimidate checks. Cast Bless Water as a cleric of your level once today.
