Jorn

Jörn (YORN) claims to be the son of Yülthn, though the All-Father has never confirmed or denied this claim. He is a handsome and charming young man, but excels as upsetting the order of both Aesenjeim and Middenjeim. He is clever and sly and often works his own secret agenda outside of that of the other gods. He amuses himself with practical jokes and can take on many other forms. It is said that he gave the gift of fire to humanity simply to see what they would do with it.

It is said that Jörn will be instrumental in bringing about the Final Battle with the Grundr and that he will take their side in the conflict. It is known that he has a special hatred for Ulfethinn the Thunderer and resents that lack of respect that he receives from the other Aesen.

Dogma

Like much involving the Sly One, this cult displays two faces. One is a cult of little respect and that purports to aid people through the use of practical joke and guile. Such acts are attempts to encourage their victims to look at life from another prospective and thus gain insight.

However, there is a darker side to the cult as well. Arts of assassination, mayhem and chaos are taught. The true purpose of the cult is to instill as much chaos and evil in the world as possible. “Jokes” are actually cruel taunts and petty acts of revenge against “wronged” parties.

Cultists devoted to Jörn keep their true natures secret, preferring to work from the shadows, revealing themselves only to taunt their enemies or if it will aid them in succeeding in their plans.

Clergy and Temples

Clergy to Jörn often keep their identities a secret and generally have other professions that they hide behind. Many are rogues and sorcerers.

Temples are equally secret, often hidden behind legitimate business fronts and the like. Most include supplies of weapons, poisons and other implements of mayhem and chaos.

Visitors to such places are rare—usually only those that seek initiation into the cult. Cultists will kill (and often do) to protect the secrets of the temple.

Appearance

Jörn is a handsome young man with dark hair and fiery eyes. He is seldom without a smirk or a grin. He will sometimes appear to followers as a pillar of fire or as a black serpent.

Obediences

Certain devout followers of the Sly One perform a daily ritual in order to receive his special favor. Balance the hilt of a dagger on the palm of your hand for as long as you can (DC 15 Reflex). As you balance the blade, contemplate the various masks that people wear to hide their true natures—the masks that you wear to hide your true nature—and the slipperiness of the truth. Gain a +4 profane bonus to Bluff, Disguise, Escape Artist, and Sleight of Hand checks. Gain a +2 to Knowledge (local) checks.
