Shadows of the Rift
A Tale of Three
Althessamari
You were born in the elf lands, but never felt at home there—and your curse ensured that you never would. Growing up near the mountains adjacent to the Rift, you felt the strange winds of that mystical place blow upon you and call your name. Those same winds blew you out into the wider world. You found yourself in Kalimsport, the hub of the world, learning new languages and meeting new people. Still, your curse kept you aloof from ever getting too close.
You did make some friends in the form of Trystan and Anandiel Yarrowyn. Trystan is an Ornishman through and through and his wife, Anandiel, is elven. They have a daughter, Elhana Yarrowyn, a fierce fighter who you’ve also developed a friendship with. She introduced you to Le Xin, a Shandorian Monk with whom she’s developed a bond and three of you have become fast friends. Your only fear is that your curse will drive them away some day. But until that day comes, you are determined to enjoy their friendship as it is given.
The three of you often spend time in The Alehouse of the Cats, a modest tavern near the docks of Kalimsport, watching the ships come in and the various travelers passing in and out, dreaming of adventure and hoping that someday some such adventure will present itself to you and your friends, if only to break up the monotony of your long existence.
Le Xin
You grew up in Kalimsport, the hub of the world. Growing up poor and in the streets, you were often bullied by the other kids. But one day, the daughter a wealthy family, a half-elf, came to your rescue. The two of you have been friends ever since. Since those days, you vowed to be able to handle yourself, and so you traveled to Achera, found a Shandorian temple, and trained your body and mind to achieve its utmost. You have only recently returned to Kalimsport since your days in the temple, where you memorized a special, sacred, scroll giving you enhanced abilities. Since returning, you have reunited with your half-elf friend, Elhana Yarrowyn, who has introduced you to Althessamari, an Elven Oracle. The three of you have become fast friends.

Elhana Yarrowyn
You are the only daughter of Trystan and Anandiel Yarrowyn of Kalimsport. Anandiel is a successful merchant and her husband, Trystan, is a sea captain. As such, you come from a moneyed family. Your family has always been supportive, even indulgent, of your interests. Growing up, you found that you were quick to react to situations. One of those situations was the relentless bullying that one of the neighborhood kids was having to endure. You had enough and reacted—with force—putting a stop to it. The child, Le Xin, became your best friend. He’s gone on to become a Shandorian monk. Later, your parents befriended an elf woman who had traveled southwest out of the elf lands, an Oracle by the name of Althessamari. The woman seemed lonely and haunted, but the two of you seemed to hit it off anyway and became friends. You introduced her to Branek and three of you have become fast friends.
