Ren is the brother of Surm Ulrich, Lothar Ulrich, Mõrvar Ulrich, and Sonja Ulrich. He is the son of Kromas Ulrich and Hilda Ulrich.

After a raid against the village of Aeth, both he and Hilda were taken as slaves by the forces of the warlord Magrathar. During the battle in Aeth , Ren lost an arm. Before that, he was a smith.

They were later freed in what became known as the Battle of Demon Keep. They continue to reside in Aeth.
