Quintrell was an elf and a member of the elite Queen’s Guard, charged with performing duties directly answerable to the Queen of the Sun, Moon, and Stars. He was traveling through the northern forests, guarding one of the Queen’s couriers, when they were set upon by a mighty beast whose hide was filled with quills. He fought bravely, but fell quickly.

When he came to, he was alive—but no longer an elf. He had been reincarnated as one of the Vale Folk. The druid that saved him, Arianel, explained that an evil sorcerer by the name of Sakka the Grim had taken the courier while he was fighting the beast. Arianel opted to help the fallen guard instead of chasing the sorcerer.

While grateful for his life, Quintrell is merely resigned to his further life as a halfling. He left the Guard of his own accord, realizing that he would never fit in again. He now resides in the Traveler’s Ring of Almathriel and frequents the Gobin & Mug tavern, playing darts and drinking ale from too-big tankards.
