Both Barengar and his brother Pietros hail from Riverton in Eacenia. They were return passengers on a voyage from Jenna to Braith when their vessel was attacked by pirates. Taken prisoner by the pirates, they were then turned over to the Gilded Hands (a thieves’ guild) in Skeene. They were being held awaiting a ransom until they were freed by Mõrvar Ulrich.
